The EMS Summer School was held in Membrane Innovation Centre, Straz pod Ralskem from 21st to 26th June 2015. The topic of Summer School was Integrated and Electromembrane Processes and it caught attention of 70 participants from 16 countries all over the world. Among the speakers there were well known experts from the leading universities and companies dealing with the field of membrane processes.

The EMS has offered travel awards which were intended for students/PhD-students attending the events supported by the EMS. Nominations were reviewed by a panel of referees and selected candidates were awarded:
Stepan Bazhenov (A.V.Topchiev Institute of Petrochemical Synthesis, Russian Academy of Sciences (TIPS RAS), Russian Federation)
Fabio Bazzarelli (Institute on Membrane Technology (ITM-CNR), Rende Italy)
Veronika Kočanová (University of Pardubice, Czech Republic)
László Koók (University of Pannonia, Institute on Bioengineering, Membrane Technology and Energetics, Veszprém, Hungary)
Pelin Yazgan Birgi (Masdar Institute of Science and Technology Abu Dhabi, UAE)

Part of the scientific program was also a poster session and four best posters have been announced during the closing ceremony. Congratulations to the awarded participants!
Daniel Golubenko (Kurnakov Institute of General and Inorganic Chemistry RAS, Moscow, Russian Federation)
Mette Birch Kristensen (Arhus University Denmark)
Jan Wieczorek (Technical University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany)
Pelin Yazgan Birgi (Masdar Institute of Science and Technology Abu Dhabi, UAE)

It was a unique opportunity to get to know the special infrastructure of newly built Membrane Innovation Centre that provided the base for participants and speakers.” summarized Aleš Černín – chairman of the Scientific Committee.

The program of the Summer School was completed with the workshops in the laboratories, excursions (SKODA Auto, Benteler, MemBrain and MEGA) and social events – two gala dinners, Opening dinner at restaurant Ještěd and the Closing dinner in glassmaker’s tavern in Lindava. The participants of the School had the opportunity to see the glassworks. With a professional comment, they had a unique chance to observe the hot fluid glass mass changing into the delicate beauty. Those, who did not resist temptation, learnt the work of glassmakers and - using the blowing pipe - made their first exclusive glass piece.
The assessment from participants and lecturers shows that the CZEMP in cooperation with its partners managed to offer a top-quality scientific programme and organize successfully the entire event.

It is a great pleasure for us to invite you also to the next event organized by the Czech Membrane Platform, MELPRO 2016, which is going to take place together with the Membrane Science & Technology Conference of Visegrad Countries PERMEA from 15th to 19th May 2016 in the Czech Republic.
