Last week was marked with the organization of the first national membrane conference MEMPUR - Membrane Processes for Sustainable Development. Czech membrane platform in cooperation with the University of Pardubice have organized the conference, which was held in the premises of University of Pardubice, May 29 - June 1, 2017. The conference was visited by 120 participants and there were 40 oral and 34 poster presentations. The topics of the conference were:

  • Membrane Development
  • Pressure Driven Membrane Processes
  • Electrochemical Membrane Processes
  • Gas and Vapour Separation
  • General Session

On Tuesday was the scientific program completed by a hike to Kuneticka hora - castle situated 6 km from Pardubice. The castle played an important role during the Hussite Wars of the early 15th century, during which it was a fortress. The castle remained a ruin until the early 20th century, when the Pardubice Museum Society was formed. Today the castle is open to the public as a museum. The castle also hosts occasional music or theatrical performances. Due to unpleasant weather there were only a few hikers but we all met in the Restaurant Kuneticka hora and spent a jolly evening.

The poster session was held on Wednesday (May 30, 2017) and it preceded Gala Dinner and it allowed the fluent continuation of developed discussions.

The presented contributions were assessed by the members of the scientific committee. The awarded authors were announced during the Closing Ceremony.

The author of the best oral presentation was Karolina Jastřembská (University of Pardubice). There were five authors awarded for the best poster presentation: Pavlína Andrýsková (Palacky University Olomouc), Miroslav Kludský (University of Chemistry and Technology Prague), Ondřej Michálek (Technical University of Ostrava), Marek Vondra (Brno University of Technology) and Jiří Ečer (MemBrain s.r.o.).

The rector of University of Chemistry and Technology Prague has rewarded Marek Lanč. Institute of Chemical Process Fundamentals of the CAS has granted the Innovation Prize to Michal Žák and Veronika Kočanová was awarded by University of Pardubice.

We would like to thank all the participants for their interest and invite you to attend the international conference MELPRO 2018, which will be held in the Czech Republic from 13th to 16th May, 2018.
