XXXII European Membrane Summer School 2015

The Czech Membrane Platform (CZEMP), supported by the European Membrane Society (EMS), Liberec Region, MemBrain, MEGA and representatives of the V4 countries, organises the XXXII European Membrane Society Summer School 2015, entitled “Integrated and Electromembrane Processes”, at the Membrane Innovation Centre (MIC) in Straz pod Ralskem on 21 to 26 June 2015. The Summer Membrane School (SMS) will include workshops in laboratories, excursions, poster session and supplementary social programme. Among the speakers will be Enrico Drioli (University of Calabria, Italy), Bart Van der Bruggen (University of Leuven, Belgium) João Crespo (Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Portugal), Mathias Ulbricht (University Duisburg Essen, Germany), Wojciech Kujawski (Nicolaus Copernicus University Torun, Poland) and other experts in membrane processes.

The SMS takes place at important establishments of European universities and research institutions. In has been held in the Czech Republic only once in 2006 by the Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry and CZEMP. The EMS supports scientific and research activities in the field of membrane processes, mainly activities involving young scientists and experts. Therefore it annually calls for organising the SMS, whose XXXII year will be prepared by the CZEMP.

The SMS 2015 will take place at the Membrane Innovation Centre (MIC) in Straz pod Ralskem and in the Liberec Region. Participants will be accommodated in Liberec, the largest city of the region, 35 km from Straz pod Ralskem – the site of the MEGA company, focusing on membrane processes, primarily on electromembrane processes, and the MemBrain company with its MIC.

Lecturers will include leading Czech and European experts in membrane processes. Participants will visit the MIC, membrane producer MEGA and car producer SKODA AUTO. Important parts of the SMS are workshops at the MIC laboratories, equipped with the latest instruments and a unique line to produce membranes. Students and young scientists will also compete in a poster session. The programme of the event and further details can be found on the website. 
The supplementary programme in the Liberec Region will emphasise local traditions and history. It will include a visit to the AJETO glassworks in Lindava and dinner with regional representatives at the restaurant of the JESTED mountain hotel, where quests will get by cable car.
